Table Importer and Editor

Manage the tables displayed across the site — import a CSV, build one from scratch, or edit and delete existing tables, configure columns, header styling, alternating row shading, and intro text, then place them on any page using the one-document-post-display shortcode.”

Table Importer and Editor

Click for Editor Instructions

Use this page to import a spreadsheet as a table, build a table from scratch, or edit and delete existing tables. Completed tables are saved as SQSA Documents (table type) and can be displayed anywhere on the site using the document display shortcode.

Modes

  • Import CSV
Upload a .csv file (max 2MB, up to 10 columns) exported from Google Sheets or a spreadsheet. Check or uncheck "First row of CSV is a header row" depending on your file, then upload. Your data loads into an editable grid where you can review and adjust it before saving.
  • Build Table
Create a table from scratch. Enter the number of columns (1–10) and click Create Grid, then fill in your header and row content directly.
  • Manage Table
Load an existing table to edit its content and settings, or delete a table you no longer need. Select the document from the dropdown, then click Load Document → to edit, or 🗑 Delete This Table to remove it. Deleting moves the table to Trash — it can be restored from Trash in wp-admin if needed.

Working in the grid

  • Document Title
Required for every table. Used to identify it in the Manage Table picker and in the admin document list.
  • Header row
Click into the gold header row to edit column names directly.
  • Rows
Use "+ Add Row at Top" or "+ Add Row at Bottom" to add rows. Click the × button on a row to delete it. Drag the ↕ handle on the left of a row to reorder it.
  • Text formatting
Click into any cell to reveal a small formatting toolbar with Bold, Italic, Underline, and Clear formatting.
  • Column widths
Click "Adjust column widths" above the grid to set each column's width as a percentage. Leave blank for automatic sizing.
  • Table settings
Above the grid you can set optional intro text shown above the table, the header background color, header text alignment, cell text alignment, and whether rows alternate shading. "Hide Doc Header" hides the document's title/intro area wherever it's displayed on the site.

Saving

  • Check & Save Document
Saves the table. If another document already exists with the same title, you'll be asked whether to update that existing document or save this as a new one.
  • Import / Build another
Appears after a successful save. Resets the tool so you can start another table.
  • ← Upload different file / Change columns / Choose different document
Returns to the previous step without saving. Any unsaved changes will be lost.

Important notes

  • Changes are not visible on the live site until the table is saved.
  • Tables are limited to 10 columns. CSV files must be under 2MB and in .csv format.
  • The document type is set to Table automatically when saved from this tool. Do not change it in the admin document list.
  • Deleting a table from Manage Table moves it to Trash, not a permanent delete — it can be restored from wp-admin if needed.

What this tool does not control

This tool manages table content only.

  • Where the table is displayed on the site — see "How tables are placed on pages" below
  • Whether the table is shown collapsed or expanded — that is set in the admin document list under the Collapsed column, described below
  • Creating or managing rich-text documents or PDF documents — use the respective editor pages for those
  • Making layout, styling, or website design changes

If you need any of the above, please contact the site administrator.

How tables are placed on pages

Saving a table here does not automatically make it appear anywhere on the site. A table only shows up on a page if the page has a shortcode pointing at that specific table.

  • The one-document shortcode
Wherever a page should show a specific SQSA Document, the page's layout contains a [one-document-post-display] shortcode identifying that document directly — usually placed by the site administrator or developer inside a Code/Text module in Divi. Tables use this exact same shortcode as custom documents and PDFs — there's no separate table-only shortcode. Each shortcode points at exactly one document, using either its ID ([one-document-post-display id="123"]) or its slug ([one-document-post-display slug="buy-on-rates"]).
  • Multiple documents on the same page
There's no shared "list" to manage anymore — to show more than one document on a page, the administrator simply places another [one-document-post-display] shortcode wherever the next one should appear, each pointing at its own document. A table right after the page's Hero and a different document further down the page are just two independent shortcodes.
  • If a table isn't showing up
Either no [one-document-post-display] shortcode on that page points at this table's ID or slug yet, or the ID/slug used doesn't match this table. Ask the site administrator to add or fix the shortcode on the correct page.
  • Collapsed vs. expanded
In the admin document list (SQSA Documents), each table has a Collapsed column. Set to "Yes," the table displays with an Open Document button and stays hidden until a visitor clicks it. Set to "No," the table displays fully expanded right away. This can be changed using Quick Edit directly from the document list. An administrator can also force a specific placement to always be open with no toggle at all, using always_open="1" on that shortcode.
  • Section styling and buttons
Administrators can customize the wording of the Open/Close buttons and the CSS class used for a given placement's section. (The Open in New Tab and Print buttons are PDF-only and don't apply to tables.) These are settings the administrator controls at the document or shortcode level — they are not part of this tool.

If a table isn't appearing where you expect, or you'd like its placement or collapsed/expanded default changed, contact the site administrator.
