SQSA Volunteer Policy for 2026-2027
Please review this policy in its entirety. There are notable changes from last year.
SQSA Parade is committed to maintaining reasonable membership fees while supporting opportunities such as parties, exhibitions, competitions, ice shows, banquets, and other events. Volunteers are essential to these events. To help ensure volunteer obligations are equitably shared among members, the following policy applies for the 2025–26 season.
Annual Volunteer Hour Requirements
Members who join SQSA before January 1, 2027 are required to complete 100% of the volunteer hours listed below. Members who join after January 2, 2027 are required to complete 50% of the listed hours.
Volunteer hours are based on the skater’s level. Families with multiple skaters should base their requirement on the highest-level skater in the family. If a skater passes to a higher level by the end of January, the new level determines the family’s requirement.
Regular Members
- ISI Delta or USFS Basic Skills 4 and below: 4 hours for the first skater; 2 hours for each additional skater. Maximum of 8 hours per family.
- ISI FS 1–FS 2 or USFS Basic Skills 5–8: 5 hours for the first skater; 2 hours for each additional skater. Maximum of 10 hours per family.
- ISI FS 3–FS 4 or USFS Pre-Preliminary: 6 hours for the first skater; 3 hours for each additional skater. Maximum of 11 hours per family.
- ISI FS 5 or USFS Preliminary & Up: 8 hours for the first skater; 2 hours for each additional skater. Maximum of 12 hours per family.
Associate Members
- 2 hours for the first skater; 1 hour for each additional skater. Maximum of 3 hours per associate family.
Collegiate Summer and Junior Members
- No hours required.
Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteer opportunities will be emailed during the year as needed. Sign-up will be available through a link to SignUpGenius. Some opportunities may be appropriate for skaters ages 10 and older.
There may also be opportunities to volunteer at local events sponsored by the Twin Cities Figure Skating Association, which may count toward SQSA requirements.
SQSA generally does not offer “do-at-home” volunteer jobs, except for ice show costume alterations. Volunteer needs are generally in person at the rink or at events.

Ways to Fulfill Volunteer Hours
Volunteer hours outside the options listed below must be pre-approved to receive credit. For example, doing tasks for a coach does not count toward volunteer hours unless pre-approved by someone on the SQSA Parade Leadership team.
- SignUpGenius links for events as noted above.
- Parade Figure Skating Booster Club Board member: Full-year, active members receive 100% of required hours. Non-active board members will not receive hours.
- Parade Figure Skating Club Junior Board members: These positions do not receive volunteer hours. They are designed for leadership development, organizational experience, and resume enhancement.
- Learn-to-Skate volunteer instructors: By application and approval only. Skaters ages 14 and 15 may earn 100% of hours volunteered in Learn-to-Skate classes. Regular set hours are still required.
Monitoring Your Volunteer Hours
Volunteer hours will be recorded by SQSA on Entryeeze for each family. Please allow 7–10 days after an event for hours to be recorded.
To check completed hours, log in to your Entryeeze membership account, click Volunteer, then My Volunteer Hours to view recorded hours and descriptions.

Priority Events
Families are strongly encouraged to complete most volunteer hours during Bold Ice in late February/early March and the Spring Ice Shows in early May. These are SQSA’s two largest events and require significant volunteer support.
Buy-Out Option
If your family has a circumstance that prevents you from completing volunteer hours, you may buy out your hours at a cost of $21 per uncompleted hour.

Failure to Fulfill Hours
Failure to fulfill volunteer hours will result in loss of good standing in SQSA and loss of membership privileges, including contract ice, and will be billed at $21 per hour after the ice show.
Volunteer Deadline
All volunteer hours must be completed by the end of the 2027 annual skater banquet, expected in mid- to late May.
